Floor Mouldings

Most of these mouldings are carried in stock in Oak and Maple. On special order we are able to manufacturer them in almost any type of wood, as long as we can get the species, and you need enough (say 150’+) to justify the machinery setup.

Nosings, similar to #1801 with various sets of math to match a variety of floor thicknesses can be made manually with quantities as small as 8′, just send us over a drawing.

Changing the geometry of other reducers and transition strips to accommodate the huge number of different thickness of flooring today, is almost impossible without actually making a new cutter … all doable, but costly ($500+).

Most often, unless you are a flooring store and use lots,  this isn’t a great answer so we try and help you find a way to take an existing, off-the-shelf profile and modify it to serve your needs. Drop by with a simple drawing including a measurement of the difference in height between your floors and we’ll try and help.

#1800 Hardwood Nosing

Hardwood Floor 1800 Nosing Lacasse Fine Wood Products Sudbury Ontario
Size: 1″ x 3 1/4″

– This size of nosing has mostly been replaced by the larger version #1801, although we do still have some red oak in stock, so give us a call to confirm availability. It is typically only available in lengths 3-12′, nothing longer.

Application: This nosing is most often used on the front of steps either at the very top where it meets the main floor or on individual steps when you want to add ceramic to the back half of the step and wood on the front few inches. If your thought is to go with an all wood step, best to go with a one piece unit, rather than nosing and hardwood flooring . see here: hardwood stairs

#1801 Hardwood Nosing

1801 Hardwood Floor Nosing Lacasse Fine Wood Products Sudbury Ontario
Size: 1″ x 4 1/4″

– Sold by random length 3-12′

Application: This nosing is most often used under horizontal runs of handrail, say for instance around an opening surrounding a set of stairs. The nosing #1800, is not wide enough for this application to allow the spindles to drop to the floor and land in the middle of the nosing, thus you need this wider nosing #1801.

#1803 Laminate Floor Nosing

1803 Laminate Floor Nosing Lacasse Fine Wood Products Sudbury Ontario
7/8″ x 2 1/2″

– Sold based on random footage from 3′-12′

Application: Used at the top of the step where it meets a “floating” laminate floor that is 3/8″ in thickness INCLUDING the thickness of the foam underlay. If the floor is thicker it is possible to jack up the nosing with a thin piece of plywood or old panelling.

#1804 Ceramic Tile Nosing

1804 Ceramic Tile Nosing Lacasse Fine Wood Products Sudbury Ontario
Size: 7/8″ x 2 1/2″

– Sold based on random footage from 3′-12′

Application: This nosing is designed to match up to ceramic tile that is 3/8″ in thickness. A lot of natural stone is thicker than 3/8″ so you must either pick a thicker nosing or use a piece of plywood to lift this up a bit higher.
